MUSICAL SYMBOLS Before playing your first song, let us look at the drawing. The first blue box is called a measure. It is made up of notes 1, 4, 3, 4. The second box is made up of notes 5, 2, 5, ~. This is another measure. A line divides both measures. This line is called a bar line. The TILDE (~) is a silent note just resting inside a measure. For the sake of learning piano, the tilde tells you to rest your finger to the key you are currently pressing for an extra count. In your case, you are pressing the number 5 key and let it rests for another note, silently. So if you see 3 tildes inside a measure, like in the second drawing, you PRESS the number 4 key while silently counting….1 and 2 and 3.Easy huh! You will use this technique on your first song. OH MY GOD! |
